What started out as a four room house, built by Jesse Hixon in 1890, soon became the Ramsey Hotel.
Hal and his wife Daisy Hagan Heath owned and operated, Hal Health's Hotel. In 1916, after making some additions, he sold it to Mrs. Ramsey.
Mrs. Ramsey kept an icehouse in the back of the hotel. In the winter, ice was cut
from the creek. (Behind Bedway Coal Co., and Terry's Bar.) It was cut in squares and hauled to her icehouse. Mrs. Ramsey sold the hotel 1919 to the Commercial Bank. The site of the hotel and icehouse
is now an alley and park owned by Toni Bedway.
